Immediately after their 1993 debut album 'Dance of December Souls' Sweden's Katatonia joined the ranks of My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost and Anathema, showing the world that the UK did not hold the exclusive rights to quality Doom Metal. Upon release the album became an instant classic within its genre and showed a firm statement of a band with a very bright future.
